A woman was injured in an early morning assault in a Hamilton club.

Police responded to a report of an assault at a “licensed establishment” in the area of Jackson Street East and Catharine Street South around 5:30 a.m. today (Dec. 8), Hamilton Police said in a press release.

When officers arrived, a woman told police she was assaulted inside the bar and the fight continued outside into a nearby parking lot.

The female victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and residents should expect a police presence in the area while evidence is gathered.

Investigators believe that there were several eye witnesses present and are appealing for them to contact police with information.

People who may have had a vehicle parked in the area equipped with a dash cam, or surveillance cameras should notify police of anything captured in and around 5:30 a.m. to 5:50 a.m.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Sami Haddad or the on-duty detective team at 905-517-0020.
