Woman attacked at encampment in Hamilton park; police seek witnesses

A woman was slashed with a sharp weapon at an encampment in a downtown Hamilton park Sunday, police said.
Police described the incident as a “serious assault” that occurred on June 25 at about 4:45 p.m. in an encampment at J.C. Beemer Park.
They did not specify the condition of the woman and the nature of her injuries.
They said the suspect is a white man in his late twenties who was reportedly wearing a distinctive salmon-coloured tank top and shorts at the time of the incident.

It’s the second attack in recent days at J.C. Beemer Park. Antonio (Anthony) Beltrano, 45, of Hamilton died in a June 22 attack and a suspect was charged with second-degree murder.
