Why a fox named Scout is visiting Hamilton businesses
Scout is freelancing for Hamilton's economic development team through the holidays as part of the annual "Spend it Here" campaign.

If your timing is right, you may be greeted by Scout the next time you pop into a Hamilton shop.

The friendly fox, who typically works as a mascot for the Hamilton Public Library, is freelancing for the city’s economic development team through the holidays as part of the annual “Spend it Here” campaign.

Audiences can follow @hamiltonecdev on Instagram and get regular updates on Scout as he discovers great places to eat, shop, and experience within Hamilton’s Business Improvement Areas (BIAs).

The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce held a one-day event last month called Hamilton Day that encouraged residents to support local businesses. It was inspired by the first-ever Hamilton Day held by the chamber back in 1931 to boost spirits and inject life into the local economy during the Great Depression.
