Hamilton was hit with approximately 40 cm of snow over the last 48 hours and drivers have been left to dig their vehicles out of an avalanche.
Some drivers, however, decided to take the easy way out and partially clean the snow off their vehicles before departing.
The Hamilton Police Service (HPS) made an example out of one vehicle on Tuesday (Jan. 18). The service tweeted a photo of a snow-covered vehicle and issued a reminder.
“This is an example of what NOT to do #HamOnt,” the tweet read. “This #HamOnt driver was taken off the roadway by our officers until the vehicle was cleared for safe driving.”
“Please clear off your vehicle, BEFORE departing,” HPS added.

Police say failing to clean snow off of your vehicle before driving poses several hazards. Not only can it impair visibility for the driver of the vehicle, but falling and blowing snow and ice can impact visibility for other drivers, as well. Snow-covered headlights can also be hazardous.
Drivers can be fined up to $110 for not clearing the snow off their vehicle.
