Hamilton has launched a dedicated website to provide updates and essential information on how it is addressing housing affordability and homelessness in the city.

Urgent action is being taken to reduce unsheltered homelessness and provide emergency support.

The dedicated website, launched by the city’s Housing Services Division, provides residents with information on what’s being done to address the “significant issues.”

This update has been integrated into the “Emergency Shelters & Drop-ins” page on the City website and can be accessed directly at: http://Hamilton.ca/TemporarySheltaryShelterExpansion… (http://hamilton.ca/TemporaryShelterExpansion…)

“The update is a crucial step in our commitment to ensuring Hamiltonians have easy access to detailed information and the latest developments,” said Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath.

The page will be updated regularly and will feature the following key components:

  • Information Section
  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
  • Status Updates
  • Community Feedback Portal
  • Reports and Resources
  • Ongoing Communications

Hamilton is adding 192 new temporary shelter beds and developing a temporary low-barrier outdoor shelter site in the Barton/Tiffany area. Emergency shelter capacity will rise by 56 percent overall.

The site will offer 24/7 services such as mental health support, housing resources, and essential services for up to 80 residents, including couples and those with pets.
