A watermain break late Wednesday afternoon (July 10) has flooded part of a major Hamilton intersection.

Hamilton Police Service, Hamilton Fire Department and other emergency crews are on the scene of the flooded area on Upper Paradise Road.

A large amount of water has poured out of the broken watermain and covered the street and surrounding area and has resulted in closure of Upper Paradise Road between Hadeland Avenue and Mohawk Road West.

The break happened shortly before 4 p.m.

The City of Hamilton announced that work to fix the break and clean up the area is expected to last through the night and wrap up by 6 a.m. on Thursday (July 11).

Commuters are asked to avoid driving in the area until work is completed tomorrow morning.
