It looks like it’s going to be a wet and windy Halloween in Hamilton this year.
According to the latest update from Environment Canada, Hamilton is expected to get 30 to 50 mm of rain on Thursday, with the heaviest rainfall coming in the afternoon.
Strong southwesterly wind gusts are expected Thursday evening and overnight.
Southwesterly wind gusts near 90 km/h are expected to develop this evening and persist into the overnight hours before weakening slightly. Westerly wind gusts of 70 or 80 km/h are then expected into Friday morning.
Winds will continue to ease through the day Friday.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
A low pressure system approaching Southern Ontario from the southwest is the reason for the unappealing weather conditions.
Divers are reminded to turn on their headlights if visibility is reduced, keep a safe following distance, and pay extra attention for pedestrians—who may be difficult to see due to the weather conditions.
