Update: Person remains barricaded in Hamilton

According to Hamilton Police, they are still on scene trying to deal with a barricaded person in the city’s south.

The individual locked themself in a home near Rymal Rd. and Pritchard Rd. shortly after 2 p.m. Police have yet to share any details about this individual or what led them to be isolated in the home.

About an hour and a half later, just before 4 p.m., police confirmed the efforts to extract the barricaded person have so far proven unsuccessful. They reiterated that a large police presence remains on scene and advised residents to avoid the area.

Investigators did provide one new detail, however, saying the individual is barricaded in a house on Lexington Ave. This residential neighbourhood sits just northeast of the intersection of Rymal Rd. and Pritchard Rd.

“We appreciate your patience,” police said.
