There was a heavy police presence on Hamilton’s west-mountain Thursday morning.
Police were at a home in the area of Brantdale Ave. and West 5th, negotiating with an individual barricaded in their home.
The Hamilton Police Service (HPS) did not provide details as to why the individual was barricaded and whether they were alone in the home.
At around 6 a.m., HPS tweeted that residents should avoid the area.
“We ask everyone to avoid the area as we work to bring this to a peaceful resolution,” they said.
Police added that the situation was contained to the home and it did not pose a threat to the public.
Update: At 7 a.m., the service tweeted that the situation had been resolved.
“Barricaded person investigation has come to a resolution,” said HPS. “We want to thank the public for your patience as we brought this to a safe resolution.”
