Teen seriously injured in Christmas Day hit-and-run in Hamilton

A person is in hospital after he was struck by a car early Christmas morning in Hamilton.

Police say officers responded to reports of a collision on Wednesday around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street East and Crosthwaite Avenue North after a teenage male was hit by a car while crossing the street.

Investigators have not disclosed the victim’s age and whether he is a young teenager (around 13 years old), or an adult (18 years or older). His place of residence was also not mentioned.

Police say the driver did not stop at the scene and continued westbound, while the victim was later transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a black sedan, however, no license plate information was noted at the time of the incident.

Investigators are urging anyone who was in the vicinity during the time of the collision to review their dashcam or CCTV footage for any evidence that may assist in the investigation. Motorists and property owners are encouraged to check their recordings.
