Suspect fentanyl dealer arrested near Hamilton pharmacy

A suspected fentanyl dealer was arrested near a Hamilton pharmacy after police allege he accepted people’s prescriptions as payment.
The Hamilton Police High Enforcement Action Team, or HEAT unit, launched an investigation on Dec. 17. They suspected a man of selling drugs near a pharmacy but did not specify where it was in the city.
Investigators say they confirmed a man was selling fentanyl and other prescription pills by the business. They learned “he was also openly trading fentanyl for prescription drugs.”
The male, who police did not name publically, was arrested and charged with:
- trafficking an opioid
- possession of an opioid for trafficking
- possession of Fentanyl for trafficking
- possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
- possession contrary to a court order
