Suspect arrested following violent assault with a weapon on Stoney Creek Mountain

A man sustained non-life-threatening injuries in an alleged assault involving a weapon on Stoney Creek Mountain in Hamilton last night.

Hamilton Police responded to a 911 call around 8:30 p.m., in the area of Concession Street and East 34th Street.

Police say they found a 24-year-old man with stab wounds to his back and right side of his body, believed to be inflicted by an edged weapon.

The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

According to investigators the assault is believed to be a targeted incident with no further threats to the public.

Police have not confirmed if the suspect and victim were known to each other.

Following the investigation, police identified a 24-year-old man as suspect in the incident.

Authorities say, he will face charges of assault with a weapon.

As the information hasn’t been sworn before the courts, the suspect’s name, place of residence and other details cannot be disclosed at this time, investigators say.

This is the second incident involving a weapon that took place on Stoney Creek Mountain on the same day. Shortly before midnight, police responded to the area of Bradbury Road and Penny Lane —north of Mud Street East— after receiving reports of shots fired into a house.
