Stolen car from Hamilton found full of stolen tools, one suspect arrested

Family and police concerned as vulnerable 71-year-old woman goes missing in St. Catharines

The discovery of a stolen car full of stolen tools in Niagara has led to an arrest.

Niagara Regional Police report they were called to a wellness check near House Rd. and Garrison Rd. in Fort Erie on Jan. 23. When they reached the home, they discovered a 2007 Ford Freestyle CUV which had been reported stolen from Hamilton on Jan. 5.

When the officers went to inspect the car and found the tools inside. They soon found a suspect who was already wanted on three arrest warrants.

Franklin Lewis, 33 of no fixed address, was arrested on charges of four counts of possession of stolen property, break and enter of a home, eight counts of theft and failure to comply with a release order.

He was held in custody until a bail hearing on Jan. 24.
