Shots rang out in Hamilton for the 34th time this year following a loud argument downtown yesterday afternoon.
Shortly before 5 p.m. on July 10, two groups of three men got into an argument near the intersection of Jackson St. E and Walnut Street. The argument quickly evolved into gunfire but all six suspects fled the scene before Hamilton Police arrived.
Several 911 calls reported one group ran to the apartment building at 115 Main St. E, the Kensington Apartments. The apartment is only about a block away from the scene.
When officers arrived at the apartment, witnesses directed them to a specific unit. The officers surrounded the apartment and soon arrested three men inside. The trio was interviewed at the area station. Police also found a gun but are currently unsure if it was the one used in the shooting.
Investigators have canvassed the area for surveillance tapes and will remain in the area for a few days longer. They continue to search for the believed triggerman; a 15-17-year-old white boy with a thin build and long, wavy brown hair. He wore a beige sweatshirt and beige shorts or rolled-up pants, white shoes, black socks, and a black satchel.
Anyone with information can call police at 905-546-4883 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
