Argument leads to Hamilton’s second stabbing in one day

A 60-year-old man was stabbed following an argument Thursday evening in east Hamilton and a suspect wearing a black ski mask fled the scene, the second stabbing on the same day, according to police.

Police said an argument led to an “altercation” between the 60-year-old victim and the suspect in the area of Melvin Avenue and Bernard Street in the McQuesten neighbourhood yesterday (Sept. 14) at about 6:30 p.m. The suspect fled on foot on Melvin Avenue in an unknown direction. 

The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, police said. 

The suspect is described as a white man, about 20 to 30 years old and 5’8”. He was wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a black ski mask.

Investigators are requesting residents to check their surveillance footage between 6 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14. Those with any information are asked to contact Det. Const. Neenos Gorrges of the East End Criminal Investigations Branch at 905-546-2956.

A separate stabbing occurred Thursday (Sept. 14) at Kinrade Avenue and Barton Street North. A 39-year-old victim was brought to hospital in stable condition after he was stabbed in the back, police said. In that case, police did not mention any suspects.
