Police issue warrant for second suspect in Hamilton Cannon St. shooting

A second warrant has been issued by police in connection with a shooting in Hamilton last month.

Hamilton Police issued the warrant for Alexander La, 23, who is considered armed and dangerous. Police allege he was involved in a daytime shooting back on May 13 in the area of Cannon Street and Kinkade Avenue.

A search warrant had already been issued for 25-year-old Malcolm Davis of Hamilton, who police identified as the Nisson driver that exchanged gunfire before fleeing the scene and crashing.

Davis would once again flee and remains outstanding.

Police allege La (above image on right) is the other shooter in the incident and was seen on CCTV firing a gun in the alleyway at the Nissan vehicle. More shots were then fired on Cannon Street.

La is facing the following offences for the May 13 incident:

• Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Knowledge of an Unauthorized possession of a Firearm
• Possession of Firearm contrary to Order
• Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order
• Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
• Discharge Firearm with Intent

La is also wanted for an incident on May 30 Multiple 911 calls were made that two males with firearms were in the hallway trying to break into a residential unit.

A female victim was in the hallway screaming and covered in blood. Police would find a woman in her 40s with a significant laceration on her forehead, caused by being struck with a firearm.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Both La and Davis should be considered armed and dangerous. Should anyone encounter either, they should call 911 “immediately.”
