UPDATE: Police advise residents to stay indoors after shots fired in Hamilton

UPDATE: Hamilton Police are thanking the public for their cooperation during their search this morning in the area of Queenston Road and Ayr Avenue.

Police say the suspect is believed to have left the area and residents are no longer asked to remain inside their home.

Authorities will remain in the area and anyone with information is encouraged to call police.


Hamilton Police have arrested a person in connection to an early morning shooting in Hamilton and as an extra precautionary residents in the area are asked to remain indoors, while the search continues for an additional suspect.

On Sunday (Dec. 3) shortly before 6 a.m., police responded to the area of Radison Lane for possible shots fired.

Police say they have arrested one person for possession of a prohibited weapon.

As of now, officers have not disclosed the identity, age, or place of residence of the suspect.

It is unknown if anyone was injured as a result of the shooting.

The investigation is on-going and authorities are asking residents in the Bingham Road, Radison Lane, Ayr Avenue, Reid Avenue, and Roxanne Drive neighbourhood to stay in their homes while police continue to search for an outstanding suspect.

Investigators are requesting anyone in the area to check their surveillance cameras and vehicle dash camera footage for any suspicious activity between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

In the last two days Hamilton has been plagued with crimes related to assaults with a weapon.

On Friday night, Hamilton police say they found a 24-year-old man with stab wounds to his back and right side of his body, believed to be inflicted by an edged weapon.

A similar scenario unfolded just hours earlier—in different area of Hamilton— where police located a victim with a leg wound, also believed to be caused by an edged weapon. However, investigators have not confirmed if these two instances are connected.
