Person barricaded in Hamilton home

Police are on scene at a Hamilton home trying to coax out a barricaded person.
Hamilton Polie confirmed an individual was barricaded in a home near Melvin Avenue and Tolton Avenue. The area is residential full of detached homes and small apartment buildings in the eastern Normanhurst neighbourhood.
Investigators confirmed the person was barricaded shortly after 3 p.m. on April 18. They did not confirm any details about the barricaded person such as their name, age or gender. However, they also shared there was no larger risk to the public.
“We ask everyone to avoid the area as police work to bring this to a peaceful resolution,” police wrote in a social media alert.
Hamilton Police are at a residence in the area of Melvin Avenue and Tolton Avenue in #HamOnt.
Members are working through a barricaded individual contained situation.
