Update: All power has been restored in Hamilton

Update(Oct. 6): Around 5:05 a.m., Alectra Utilities tweeted stating that all power was restored in Hamilton.

A power outage is impacting 6,871 homes and businesses in Hamilton this evening (Oct 5).

According to Alectra Utilities, the outage is affecting residents in the Dundas and Waterdown areas.

In response to the situation, Alectra has dispatched its crews to address the issue and make necessary repairs.

They say that an overhead distribution problem caused the outage.

A transformer right near us in Dundas blew. It was so loud and bright, Scared the crap out of us!!!

A resident impacted by the power disruption took to X (formerly Twitter) stating a transformer near their house blew.

Authorities say that the estimated time of restoration is set at 2 a.m.
