One person in critical condition, two others seriously injured after two-vehicle crash in Hamilton

Police are asking for the public’s help after two vehicles crashed in Hamilton yesterday, leaving one woman in life-threatening condition and two others with serious injuries.

Hamilton Police responded to a collision just before 1:00 p.m. on Upper James Street between Dickenson Road East and English Church Road East.

According to investigators, a 2010 Hyundai Elantra was travelling southbound on Upper James Street when a 2016 Honda Civic rear-ended it.

Police say an 86-year-old woman from Hamilton drove the Hyundai, with her 59-year-old daughter (also from Hamilton) as a passenger. A 24-year-old man from Hagersville was driving the Honda.

Both vehicles came to a stop on the west shoulder of Upper James Street.

All three people involved in the crash were taken to the hospital. The 86-year-old driver is currently fighting for her life, while her daughter and the other driver sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, officials say.

Hamilton Police are calling for witnesses to the collision to come forward. They are also urging motorists who were in the area at the time to check their dash cameras and asking residents or businesses with surveillance cameras to review their footage from 12:40 p.m. to 12:55 p.m.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Fiuza at 905-546-4753 or via email at [email protected].
