One person dead after two-car collision in Hamilton

One person has died after a two-vehicle collision Thursday afternoon in downtown Hamilton.

Hamilton Police are investigating the crash, which occurred on Barton Street East between Sherman Avenue North and Lottridge Street.

“One individual was transported to hospital and has since been pronounced deceased,” police said.

Both the eastbound and westbound lanes on Barton Street East are closed. Commuters in the area are being asked to plan ahead and take alternative routes.

Police remain on the scene. The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.
