East Hamilton is home to the city’s newest pizzeria that is serving up affordable and delicious za with a side of comic book whimsy.

Power Pizza opened its doors earlier this month at 134 Ottawa St. N, in the plaza at Roxborough Avenue, and offers a menu full of superhero-inspired pies, panzerotti, sides and snacks (including deep-fried avocado and pickle swords).

Wings and a massive list of homemade and classic dipping sauces are also available, as well as salads, garlic bread and drinks.

There are plenty of plant-based, gluten-free options that have been sourced locally and will accommodate a variety of diets and tastes.

“A POWER PIZZA consists of fresh dough, NEVER FROZEN, made in-house each day, hand-stretched, covered with sauce, then topped with delicious cheese, and fresh ingredients,” it says on Power Pizza’s website.

“Choose from our selection of ‘Super Pizzas’ — here we put some twists on the classics, however — we also kick it up a notch with new pizza creations which will have your taste buds craving more.”

Walk-in specials include pop-and-a-slice combos for under $6 (before taxes) and without a pop, slices for less than $5, making Power Pizza an affordable eat-out option in the Crownpoint neighbourhood.

They currently offer delivery below the Mountain from Wentworth to the Red Hill and down to the lake.

What sets Power Pizza from other pizzerias is that its storefront and decor is a real feast for the eyes with its colourful and stunning comic book-style art courtesy of renowned Toronto-based illustrator Adrian Hayles.

Early reviews suggest this funky spot will quickly become a must-try spot for Hamilton’s pizza fans, especially once the city starts emerging from lockdown in the coming weeks.
