Investigators have confirmed the identity of the man found dead in Hamilton over the weekend.
Hamilton Police officers responded to reports of a murder near Gage Avenue South and Main Street East around 3:30 p.m. on June 15. They sent out a large police presence to comb the area, but confirmed little more information at the time.
On June 17, investigators identified the victim as Randy Peardon, 37 of Hamilton. They further said Peardon was discovered dead at 100 Connaught Avenue, a small apartment building in a residential neighbourhood by Gage Park. Peardon lived in the area, but not in the apartment he was found in.
Medical examiners conducted an autopsy which found Peardon had been murdered. However, investigators have not released a cause of death. They have likewise released no information about potential suspects.
“The residence continues to be held by police pending the execution of a search warrant. Police expect to be in the area for at least another day,” investigators said, “Police have canvassed the area for witnesses and video. Investigators are now in the process of examining the video that has been collected.”
