Man charged with arson, break-in at Hamilton barn

A 22-year-old man from Hamilton has been arrested and charged with breaking into a barn and setting fire to the property, which caused an estimated $200,000 of damage.
Hamilton police said the crime happened July 30. Officers responded to the barn fire at about 11:05 p.m. this past Sunday.
It was reported yesterday that it happened at 970 Highway 6 in Flamborough. Police said today (Aug. 1) the crime happened in the area of Highway 6 and Concession Rd 6 E. in Flamborough.
Police said there was no one home at that time. They noted that there were no injuries and no animals in the barn.
“Investigation revealed evidence of a break and enter and the use of an accelerant,” it said in a press release.
The 22-year-old man from Hamilton was arrested and charged with committing a break-and-enter offence and arson. Police did not name the suspect.
