A man facing 19 charges related to probation compliance has been arrested in connection with multiple vehicle thefts in Hamilton.
Today, Hamilton police said two people have been arrested following an alleged string of thefts from car dealerships. According to police, a suspect in disguise would provide dealerships with fake identification and arrange a test drive or ask to look at a vehicle. Once the suspect had the keys and the sales associate was distracted, he would allegedly flee the dealership in the car.
Police say that, working with other law enforcement services, they were able to identify and arrest Arshdeep Gill at his home on July 11. His girlfriend, Navdeep Kaur, was also charged.
Gill has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and failing to comply with a release order (19 counts). Kaur was charged with possession of stolen property.
“Before being apprehended by Hamilton Police, Gill was already facing 19 charges of failing to comply with his probation,” police said in a news release.
