Major power outages reported in Hamilton, over 4,000 homes affected

Multiple outages are in effect in Hamilton this evening (Dec. 11) due to the extreme winds.

Alectra reports that the outages are affecting 3,797 hydro customers in Dundas, with another 530 affected in Stoney Creek.

East and West Mountain outages are also being investigated.

There is currently no estimate for when power will return.

wind warning remains in effect this weekend for Hamilton, with severe winds gusting between 90 and 110 km/h.

Residents should be cautious, as the winds can cause damage to buildings and fell trees and power lines.
