Lockdown continues at Hamilton high school amid search for gun

The lockdown at a Hamilton high school continues as police are still looking for a bag thought to hold a gun.

Hamilton Police announced a lockdown at Bernie Custis Public Secondary School at 1055 King St E shortly before 11:30 a.m. They confirmed at the time they had five people, who they did not describe, in custody.

Investigators believe these five were the only suspects and that there is no further threat to students or staff. However, they had yet to find the gun. Additionally, police have not shared what sparked their investigation, or if the suspects face any charges.

At 1:30 p.m. police confirmed the lockdown was still in place as they still hadn’t found the weapon.

“We will continue to provide updates on the Lockdown status and investigation progress as soon as new information becomes available,” they said.
