Loaded firearms, drugs and cash seized in Hamilton bust

Two people face charges after police seized firearms, drugs and cash from a Hamilton home.

Officers searched a home in Hamilton and uncovered a cache of illegal items, including loaded firearms, ammunition, illicit drugs and a substantial amount of currency, Hamilton Police said in a press release today (Oct. 25).

Police seized three loaded firearms, two over-capacity magazines, assorted ammunition, a significant sum of Canadian currency, almost 100 oxycodone pills, and almost 375 grams of suspected cocaine.

The estimated street value of the seized illicit drugs is believed to exceed $30,000.

Cameron Cole MacDonald, 22, and Alyssa Kett-Vanclief, 23, both residents of Hamilton,  face a range of charges.

The two have jointly been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a loaded restricted firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, three counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, and proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Additionally, MacDonald faces charges of proceeds of crime under $5,000 and 12 counts of possession contrary to order.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
