As of Wednesday (July 15), there have been 869 cases of COVID-19 reported in Hamilton since the middle of March.

This is one case more than when the City of Hamilton last updated their numbers on Tuesday. Of these, 860 have been confirmed and nine are considered probable.

The community’s COVID-19-related death toll remains at 44.

There are currently no active outbreaks at long-term care or congregate care facilities in the city being reported at this time.

The number of resolved cases is up to 802, accounting for approximately 92 per cent of Hamilton’s overall cases.

The numbers suggest that there are fewer than 25 active cases of the virus in the community for the time being.

The age group with the most number of confirmed cases continues to be those in the 20 to 29 range. So far, they account for 171, or 20 per cent, of the community’s confirmed cases. They also account for four cases, or 22 per cent, of positive results in the last 10 days.

Ontario reported 102 new cases of COVID-19 and nine new deaths related to the virus on Wednesday.

The total number of cases now stands at 37,052, which includes 2,732 deaths and 32,920 cases marked as resolved.

The number of resolved cases grew by 135, outpacing the number of new cases.

The number of people in hospital dropped by more than 20, but the province reported slight increases in the numbers of people in intensive care and on ventilators.

The Ministry of Health said more than 23,000 people were tested for the novel coronavirus in the previous day.
