Investigators are offering a substantial reward in the hopes of resolving a case of a missing woman, who has a tie to Hamilton and may have been the victim of foul play
Amber Ellis, who would be 34, was last seen on Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation near the end of February 2021. Her mother reported her missing on March 8, 2021. She last lived in Hagersville, in Haldimand County, but also has ties to Hamilton, Cambridge and Brantford.
The Ontario government is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading police to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Ellis’s disappearance.
“I am confident this reward will provide added incentive for anyone who has been hesitant in providing police with information that can assist our investigators in bringing this case to a resolution for Amber’s grieving family.” Det.-Insp. Chris Josiah of the Ontario Provincial Police criminal investigation branch stated on Monday.
Members of Haldimand County OPP, Brantford Police and Six Nations Police are part of the investigative team trying to find Ellis. She is 5-foot-9 (175 cm), 120 pounds (54 kg), with a thin build, long dark hair, and brown eyes. A recent report in Two Row Times says she has a visible horizontal scar between her eyebrows and a visible tattoo of a Chinese character on the nape of her neck.
Anyone with information that might help investigators is encouraged to call the OPP Amber Ellis tip line at 1-866-549-2090 or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
