Hit-and-run leaves victim with life-threatening head injuries in Hamilton

Police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run in Hamilton this morning  that left one person with life-threatening injuries.

Hamilton Police say emergency services responded to a call shortly after 5:30 a.m. in the southbound lane of Queen Street South, near Aberdeen Avenue, where a severely injured person was found on the roadway.

Investigators determined the person had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene without stopping.

The victim, who police say suffered critical head injuries, was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital, where they remain in serious condition.

Officials have not specified if the victim is male or female and have withheld other identifying details, such as their age and place of residence.

The circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. They are also asking drivers who were in the area at the time to review their dash camera footage for any details that might assist the investigation.
