UPDATE: Three Hamilton police officers stabbed in head and neck responding to person in crisis

Three Hamilton Police Service officers are recovering with stab wounds to the neck and head after responding to a call Tuesday (Dec. 22) afternoon.
Hamilton Police Service sent a tweet at 3:44 p.m., advising the public to avoid the area of James and Cannon as they tend to a “person in crisis” who was behaving “erratically.”

The tweet came after a “suspicious male” was reported in the area of James St. N and Robert St.
A police spokesperson said the officers engaged with the male and an altercation ensued.
The suspect was arrested and taken to hospital to be treated for undisclosed injuries.
The injured officers are reportedly in stable condition.
