Spring has not quite sprung in Hamilton but there’s one place residents can go to get a glimpse of the season before it officially gets here.
Hamilton’s Spring Tide Bulb Show is back for 2022 at the Gage Park Greenhouse and it kicks off this weekend.
Starting Friday (March 11) and running until March 20, the greenhouse will be transformed into a springtime paradise with thousands of blooming tulips, pansies, daffodils and much more on display.
According to the City of Hamilton, this year’s display features more than 45,000 plants and approximately 12,000 visitors are expected to attend this year’s show.
The bulb show is also an opportunity for attendees to support Hamilton Food Share as donations of cash and non-perishable food items will be accepted in lieu of admission fees. The last time the show ran, in 2019, organizers collected close to 60,000 lbs of food for the emergency food hub.
More information about Hamilton Food Share, including most-needed items, can be found on the organization’s website.
As COVID-19 restrictions continue to loosen, this year, pre-registration to attend the bulb show is not required but masks are.
Admission and parking are free but if you plan on heading over this weekend, parking will be limited as Gage Park will provide overflow parking Sunday (March 13) for the NHL Heritage Classic at Tim Hortons Field. Members of the public are encouraged to consider carpooling or taking public transit.
