As both a life-long Hamilton resident and shameless, card-carrying member of Bachelor Nation, it’s my duty to notify the public that our city’s brightest star is back on reality television.

Martin Short, Eugene Levy, and Neil Peart all agree; Blake Moynes is the biggest star our city has ever produced.

So you could imagine my dismay when City officials refused to lower the flags to half-staff the morning after Blake was sent packing by Tayshia Adams during season 16 of The Bachelorette. In fact, the City didn’t even return my calls. City Council apparently felt there were more pressing matters to tend to.

When’s the last time LRT or Chedoke Creek were featured on a hit television show?

Nevertheless, I come bearing fantastic news: Blake is back.

ABC dropped their latest promo of the upcoming season of The Bachelorette.

Season 18 will see 30-year-old former Bachelor contestant, Katie Thurston, as the centrepiece.

In the promo, Blake, also 30, shows up to surprise Katie outside her window while holding a boombox. “Oh my God, it’s Blake!” she says.

Blake was a contestant on “the most shocking season of The Bachelorette, yet.”

Season 16 had COVID-19 affect shooting and then the bizarre departure of the originally-casted Bachelorette, Clare Crawley—who, despite being a long-time member of the Bachelor franchise and the oldest Bachelorette ever, apparently doesn’t actually know how the show works because she got engaged to a contestant within the first few weeks of filming.

Blake then competed for the hand of Clare’s replacement, Tayshia, but was sent home a week before hometowns. If only Tayshia knew she was one week away from being treated to a romantic waterfall tour and a slice of Roma Pizza…

We’ll see if Blake leads with that during his encounter with Katie.

The new season debuts June 7, 2021, on City TV.
