Update: Hamilton under severe thunderstorm watch

The Hamilton area is under a severe thunderstorm watch for Tuesday evening (Sept. 7).
An Environment Canada alert was issued at 6:04 p.m., but was lifted at 8:24 p.m. Another alert was issued around 9:40 p.m.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
A storm system that developed over Lake Superior has been moving in a southeasterly direction. Earlier in the day, there were tornado warnings in areas of Central Ontario.
