Motorists are advised to avoid the area near Glover Road in Hamilton because of work on water, sewer and storm sewer connections.

Glover Road is closed between Rymal Road and Twenty Road until Sunday, Sept. 24. The City of Hamilton said motorists should take an alternate route.

As well, lanes will be restricted on Golf Links Road at Southcote Road starting Thursday, Sept. 7 until Sept. 21 daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for sidewalk and curb installation.

Moreover, sewer and road upgrades are making the intersection at Dewitt Road and Highway 8 inaccessible for a month.

The work began Sept. 5 as part of the first phase of the project in Stoney Creek. The City said it requires the full closure of the intersection because of the depth and size of the underground sewer infrastructure that will be installed.

During the closure, motorists are advised to detour using Millen and Fruitland Roads.

“Following the installation, one lane in each direction will be re-opened to facilitate traffic flow while the intersection is completed,” the City said in a press release.

The City said it plans to do sanitary sewer upgrades, road restoration, and road and sidewalk reconstruction. As well, it is resurfacing the road, replacing the curb and boulevard along with other related work.

HSR Route 55 Stoney Creek Central bus will detour in both directions between Fruitland and Millen Roads, with some stops out of service, resulting in minor delays, the City added. However, Route 55A is not affected.
