A woman from Hamilton won $50,002 playing Ontario 49 with Encore.

Elizabeth Field of Stoney Creek won the second prize worth $50,000, plus an additional $2 with Encore.

Field, a retiree, said she’s been playing the lottery for about 20 years.

“I’ve decided Ontario 49 is now my favourite game,” declared Liz while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings. “I’ve been playing the same numbers for many years.”

The 72-year-old said she was at home comparing her numbers to the winning numbers and kept matching one number at a time.

“I kept thinking, one more number. When I realized I won $50,000, I was shocked.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Highway 8 in Stoney Creek.

Field said she had her husband verify the win.

“He was worried I had made a mistake. He gave it a second look, and then we went to the store to confirm. It was fantastic,” she continued. “I would dream about winning all the time – it was nice to experience my own winning moment!”

Field is also treating herself to a new vehicle.

“I’m very excited to replace my 18-year-old car with something new,” she concluded.

Ontario 49 is $1 per play, and the draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday.
