Hamilton man arrested following assault in Gage Park

Hamilton Police have arrested a local man following a morning assault on two people in Gage Park on Friday (June 5).

Police say shortly before 7:30 a.m., they were called to Gage Park to reports of a disturbance.
When police arrived, they say it appeared a 40-year-old woman and an 83-year-old man had been randomly assaulted by an unknown man on a pathway west of the fountain towards Gage Avenue.
Both victims were transported to the hospital and their medical status is still being assessed. No weapons were used.
A 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody. Assault-related charges are expected to be laid.
The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to determine the motive for the assault.
