Hamilton man, 91, dies of car crash injuries

A 91-year-old Hamilton man who crashed his car 2½ weeks ago has died, becoming the 23rd person to die on the city’s roadways in 2022.

Hamilton Police continue to investigate the single-car crash, which occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. The man was driving on Dragoon Dr. when his vehicle struck a parked vehicle and came to rest on its roof.

The man was removed from his vehicle and taken to hospital with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries. On Monday, Hamilton Police investigators were told by the Office of the Chief Coroner contacted investigators and advised that the man had died as a result of injuries sustained during the collision.

Final statistics on injuries and deaths on Hamilton roads are not officialized until the city releases its collision report for the previous calendar year. That is usually published around July. But Hamilton has had close to double the number of traffic deaths that it did in 2021, whose total of 12 in itself was a 10-year high.
