Hamilton, Halton and Niagara brace for more windy weather this week

A special weather statement issued for Hamilton, Halton and the Niagara Region on Wednesday (Dec. 15) is warning that more windy weather is on its way.

According to Environment Canada, strong southwesterly winds with gusts of 70 to 90 km/h are expected to develop Thursday morning or early afternoon.

The highest winds are expected along the shores of Lake Huron, where gusts to 90 km/h are likely.

The weather agency said winds are expected to slowly ease Thursday night, but residents are warned that local power outages are possible during the weather event.

Wind warnings may be issued as the event draws nearer.
