Driver dies in Hamilton after plunging down Niagara Escarpment

A female driver died in Hamilton Wednesday after her car hopped a guardrail on the Mountain and plunged down the Niagara Escarpment.
The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. at Ridge Road and Third Road East. Reports indicated that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Hamilton police asked the public to avoid Ridge Rd. while they investigated.
It is Hamilton’s eighth traffic fatality within the first three months of 2022.

It was also the second major collision in the city in the span of a few hours on Wednesday.
On Wednesday afternoon, a 14-year-old teenage girl who was walking home from school was hit by a 49-year-old male driver at the intersection of Dundurn St. S. and Main St. W. The teenager was reportedly rushed to hospital to undergo surgery, and the police say that she is in stable condition.
