Hamilton COVID-19 cases up to 500, one new death reported

The City of Hamilton is reporting there are 500 cases of COVID-19 in the community as of Wednesday (May 13) — that is up 10 cases from Tuesday.

There are 495 confirmed positive cases and five probable cases.
Hamilton is reporting another death related to the virus on Wednesday, bringing the city’s death toll to 25.
The city’s rate of resolved cases has dipped slightly in the last 24 hours to 73 per cent (down from 74 per cent on Tuesday), as 366 of Hamilton’s cases have been resolved.
Twenty-three people are currently being treated for COVID-19 in Hamilton hospitals.
Many of the deaths related to the virus in the city have been associated with outbreaks at long-term care and congregate facilities.
There are currently 11 active outbreaks at facilities in Hamilton, which is down from 12 on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Ontario is reporting 21,236 cases of COVID-19 across the province, which is up 329 in 24 hours.
The provincial death toll is up to 1,765 and 15,845 resolved cases.
