A Hallmark Christmas movie will feature Hamilton’s Dundurn Castle.

The movie, A Not So Royal Christmas, was slated to film in Hamilton in September, according to the Film and Television Industry Alliance.

A short summary of the film says the storyline follows a gossip columnist who pretends to be a prestigious journalist to get access to the notoriously private royal Count Lars. She discovers he is also not quite who he seems to be.

The movie stars Brooke D’Orsay (Two and a Half Men) and Will Kemp (Reign).

It appears at least part of the filming was at Dundurn Castle in Hamilton. Photos posted on social media show Dundurn decked out in Christmas wreaths, decorated trees and snow.

There are also film crews in downtown Milton this month. According to posts on social media, the crews are working on A Not So Royal Christmas.

Hamilton has been the backdrop for several Christmas movies including Take Me Back for Christmas, The Christmas Cure, Scentsational Christmas, Christmas on Mistletoe Lake, Inn Love by Christmas, A Christmas Break, Christmas in Toyland, and The Enchanted Christmas Cake, according to TheCinemaholic.

It looks like this latest movie will have a quick turn around. According to Entertainment Weekly, A Not So Royal Christmas premiers on the Hallmark Channel on Dec. 2 at 8 p.m.
