Gourley Park sexual assault remains under investigation weeks later in Hamilton

A sexual assault committed more than two weeks ago remains under investigation as Hamilton Police plea for more information.

The victim was walking along Brigadoon Drive on the north side of Gourley Park on the Mountain around 9 p.m. on Sept. 3. As she made her way, an unidentified man approached and sexually assaulted her.

Investigators have asked anyone in the area to check their security cameras for suspicious activity between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. that night.

While they have not identified the suspect, they did provide a limited description. The suspect stands more than six feet tall with a black beard. He was wearing a dark or black oversized hoodie and dark or black long pants.

“There is no guaranteed way to prevent sexual assault. Sharing the details of this assault is intended to provide the community information, and people are encouraged to trust their instincts,” police said.
