Fugitive known to frequent Hamilton arrested

Trevor Charlton is wanted after breaching conditions of his statutory release

A fugitive known to frequent Hamilton has been arrested after nearly a week on the lam.

The OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad announced Trevor Charlton, 43, had gone on the run on Jan. 4. Charlton was convicted of drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by, failure to comply with court orders and uttering death threats. He was serving the last of his four-year and eight-month sentence under statutory release in the community.

Charlton was discovered a few days after police issued a Canada-wide warrant. Police announced his arrest on Jan. 11. He had been staying in the small town of Paris, about 40 minutes west of Hamilton.
