Several Hamilton Police officers are in recovery after a flamethrower-wielding woman allegedly attacked them.
Operators revived a 911 call about an unspecified emergency on Magnolia Drive, a residential neighbourhood nestled between Lincoln Alexander Parkway and Mohawk Road.
When officers arrived, they encountered a woman wielding “what has been described as a flamethrower,” a police spokesperson told INthehammer. The officers tried to talk her down but she “continued to charge at the officers.” She had also already started a fire in the area.
The officers managed to restrain and arrest the woman. Hamilton Police have not publically identified her or specified her age. She’s charged with;
- arson with a disregard for human life,
- two counts of assault with a weapon,
- two counts of assaulting police, and
- mischief under $5,000
As a result of the fire, “four of our officers were taken to the hospital to seek treatment for smoke inhalation, they have been released but have some trouble breathing and in their airways and will recover at home,” police told INthehammer.
