There are optimal conditions for golfing in Hamilton no matter the weather, now that the first indoor simulator in the area is ready for play — with a 50-per-cent off grand opening special, no less.
Swing Zone recently opened at 6-1290 Arvin Ave. off Lewis Rd. in Stoney Creek, giving Hamilton, Halton and Niagara golfers a chance to link up and keep their swings sharp during the colder months of the year, or do a little conditioning prior to that warm-weather winter vacation. Seven private bays are available for rent for either dedicated practice or events, and until Jan. 31, renting a bay costs only $25 per hour.
Generally, according to the FAQ page at Swing Zone, a player can complete 18 holes in an hour. The simulator takes out walking or carting around the course, plus the time spent looking for a ball that landed in the rough.
The simulator uses the TrackMan Golf simulator to create conditions at over 200 courses from the around the world, with golfers hitting toward a large projection screen. Swing Zone says that the tech it uses “is the high-performance simulator sought out and used by pro golfers. It is known as the most powerful, its industry leader.” The bays open up to each other, which can create party rooms for up to 18 players. The layout of the facility is also geared to allow for booking two or three rooms at once, or renting out the entire facility, including a VIP golf bay.
For the time being, Swing Zone is open from 9 a.m.-midnight most nights, and from 9 a.m. till 8 p.m. on Sundays. Its website says it will ramp up to being accessible 24/7 as it gets going.
In addition to enabling golfers of all abilties and experiences to feel like they are playing a famous course such as Bethpage Black or Pebble Beach, Swing Zone also offers a number of other services.
Those include beer and drink service; club rental; club cleaning service; childen’s parties; golf lessons; hosting for corporate events; and a wellness and training facility.
