Female victim found stabbed after a break-and-enter report in Hamilton

A female victim suffered stab wounds and was found after police responded to a break-and-enter in Hamilton.
Around 5 a.m. today (Sept. 9) police were called to Sherman Avenue North and Case Street for a report of a break-and-enter in progress, Hamilton Police said in a press release.
There were also reports of an altercation involving several people, police said.
Police found a female victim suffering from a stab wound to her abdomen. Police said she is now in non-life-threatening condition.
Police have charged one 40-year-old man in connection with the incident. He faces weapons, mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats charges.
As the information has not been sworn to before the courts, the accused’s name cannot be released at this time, police said.
Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s assistance in the case.
Police believe this assault to be a targeted incident and are seeking additional witnesses to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
Hamilton Police are also asking residents, business owners and drivers with cameras in the area to review their security surveillance cameras between 4 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. for any suspicious activity.
