Four grocery store employees at two Fortinos locations in Hamilton have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the grocery store’s parent company.
Two employees at the Fortinos on Upper Centennial (at Rymal) and two at the Ancaster store (on Wilson) have tested positive, Loblaw Companies Ltd. reported on their website Tuesday (Jan. 12).
The employees from the Upper Centennial location last worked January 6 and on January 8 and in Ancaster those members last worked on January 2 and on January 8.
“Given the important role we play in our communities, we are prepared for all possible situations, including a positive test for COVID-19 in our stores,” a notice on Loblaw’s website says.
“In these cases, we work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores.
“In all of our stores, we encourage our colleagues and employees to wear masks, particularly where physical distancing is not always possible.”
Both locations are currently open for business and no outbreaks have been declared.
On Sunday (Jan. 10) Metro Inc. reported that one of their staff members at the store on King St. in East Hamilton had tested positive for the virus. Their last day of work was January 2.
