Boy, 15, charged in attempted car theft in Hamilton

A 15-year-old boy has been charged after an attempted car theft in Hamilton early Thursday morning.

Hamilton Police said a man saw a stranger enter his driveway around 1 a.m. and called 911. When police officers arrived, they encountered a male in the area, but he ran from the driveway.

Police didn’t say where, specifically, the attempted car theft took place.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested a short time later. He’s charged with six offences including car theft and failure to comply with a release order. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

While the victim’s car was recovered at the scene, a black Honda Civic fled the area during the teen’s arrest. Police are still looking for the Civic and its occupants.
